History

The Trans Am GTA was bought by the team in 1993–94. It had 8,500 miles on it at the time. In 1995 I got a special permit for fitting forced induction, and a Paxton SN93 supercharger went in.

In 1999 the engine gained aluminium heads and forged pistons - output reached 495 hp. The appetite grew: a Paxton Novi 2000 blower was sourced and the injectors stepped up. The stock intake gave way to an Accel Super Ram with a mild blower cam. Engine management had already moved to Haltech earlier. New cogged belt pulleys were made for the bigger blower and the drive ratios raised slightly.

These last changes were made around 2002–2005. The test drive ended the first time the car felt like it truly pulled - the crankshaft snapped. The GTA has stood in a warm garage ever since. Over the years a new, stronger engine has been built for it, but with other priorities it still waits on the engine stand for installation.
